La Quinta Resort Palm Springs, CA – June 2005
June 11, 2005

When fellow Easy Escapes agent Caroline told me she was heading out our way for a mini-vacation, we knew we had to meet up with them! So, we took a quickie trip to La Quinta Resort and Club to relax, enjoy some frozen drinks, and catch some rays. We booked through me, since I’m a travel agent with Easy Escapes Travel and we drove out there since it’s only 3 hours from our home in Arizona.

Sheraton Marina, San Diego, CA – June 2005
June 3, 2005

We went to San Diego for 3 days in early June to support a friend running in the San Diego Rock n Roll Marathon. Since this trip had a purpose, we based our accomodation location to be close to the race and close to my friend. As with most small trips, we booked everything on our own through America West Airlines (now, through two mergers American Airlines) and the Starwood Preferred Guest website.

Cross Country Drive: Maryland to Arizona – May 2005
May 11, 2005

Day1: Frederick, MD to Indianapolis, IN

I woke up around 6:30am tired, anxious, and ready to hit the road to begin my new life. I admit I was sad to drive away from the town that had been my home for the last year, and the state that had been my home for the last 7 years. A lot of the most important things in my life happened in Maryland- college, my first job, my first home- but I was about to do something that not every person has the opportunity to do in their lifetime.

I’m not sure how many times I heard the words “I’m jealous” or “I wish we could have done that”, so as scared and as sad as I was, I knew this dream of mine was more than just a simple move- it was my way of breaking the traditional mold of getting married, buying a home, and having kids. Of course, I had already broken that mold by resisting the pressures of starting a family and traveling the world instead. This move was the beginning of my plan for world domination (okay, not really….); it is actually the beginning of making all of my dreams and goals come true. So, as I began my long journey down Interstate 70, I wiped the tears from my face and began to take in the surroundings.

Sans Souci Resort Jamaica – April 2005
April 20, 2005

We went to the all-inclusive Sans Souci Resort & Spa in Ocho Rios, Jamaica in mid-April. We had not planned on taking a trip due to a relocation, but Sans Souci was offering a phenomenal deal that could NOT be passed up. This was my first taste of the all-inclusive resort phenomena and I definitely felt there were positives and negatives to this. Sans Souci is a more low-key, more intimate, all-inclusive, but I could still feel the stereotypical all-inclusive vibe in some aspects. While I sum up my overall feeling of this trip as “indifferent”, I think the nasty, rainy weather had a lot to do with my personal feelings. However, some of the best parts of this trip occurred because it was raining the entire time!

Manale Bay Lanai and Hilton/Hyatt in Oahu – March 2005
March 20, 2005

I went to Lanai for 4 days for relaxation and Oahu for 7 days for a business trip. This was the first time I have been to Hawaii. I booked the Lanai part of the trip, which included interisland flights, hotel stay, and transfers as part of  a package. I booked everything on my own for Oahu through my company travel agency. While I had high expectations of Hawaii, and they were not entirely let down, I must say that it is NOTHING like I imagined! I know I chose an island that is off the beaten path, but this just makes me want to visit ALL of the islands now!

InterContinental Tahiti, Le Taha’a, and Bora Bora Nui Resort, French Polynesia – April 2004
May 1, 2004

Itinerary

1 night Tahiti at the InterContinental Tahiti Resort

5 nights Taha’a at Le Taha’a Resort

4 nights Bora Bora at Bora Bora Nui Resort

We went to Tahiti, Tahaa, and Bora Bora for 11 days, plus 1 night in Los Angeles (Westin LAX) on the return trip. It was truly an amazing experience and one the first of many trips to come. I was in awe of the beauty of the islands and the smells in the breeze were enchanting. I cannot even really put into words the experience we had because it was so perfect. French Polynesia is true paradise and we cannot wait to return. I’m obsessed! Please contact me if you want some more information on any of my itineraries or visit the Tahiti page for tons of info on the islands that I’ve gathered up over time. It is truly worth every penny we spent and I personally feel this is one trip you should try not to do on too strict of a budget, although it is something everyone should try to do once in their lives, if they like the sun, the water, and relaxation. We were very fortunate to be able to splurge on this trip and we are extremely thankful we had this opportunity.
